Will Carpenter, Tyler Cox, Tyler Cook and Sam Seawell all played on our MBFC 95 Boys Blue RPL Team and Josh Gurvitz played on our MBFC 96 Boys GSPL Team.  

Mobile Bay FC:

Our son, John Stephen Greene, Jr. (better known as Bug) played club soccer for the first time last fall with Mobile Bay FC on the U18/U19 team under Coach Dave Maidstone.   After the first practice with that team, John couldn’t wait until the next practice.  It’s evidenced in the fact that out of all the practices held at Trione Park, which is in the south part of Fairhope, and a few held at Texas Street in Mobile, he was fortunate to have only missed one practice.  We live in Saraland, so that was a lot of driving for a 17 year-old on school nights. 

Under Coach Dave, John’s love for soccer strengthened.  Coach Dave not only taught the game of soccer, he taught the importance of commitment, dedication, hard work, perseverance, and especially the importance of working as a team; which was evident at the Final Four game at State Cup in Decatur last November.  Even though they lost, everyone who witnessed that game, including the opposing team, saw a team who truly gave their all and played well. 

John truly enjoyed playing on the Mobile Bay FC U18/U19 team.   He also developed many new friendships, some which he still keeps in touch with, even though the bay separates them.  And, as parents, we can say that we feel playing soccer with Mobile Bay FC was a great experience for our son, as well as our family!   

Last Thursday, John signed to play on the University of Mobile Soccer Team under Coach Roy Patton and Asst. Coach Daniel Whelan.  John is thrilled to be given the opportunity to play soccer at the college level, and especially to be a part of such a great soccer team as the University of Mobile Rams!

We have attached a photograph taken at the signing ceremony at Saraland High School last Thursday.  In the photograph, in addition to John and his parents, are left to right: UM Coach Roy Patton, Saraland Soccer Coach Robert Murphy, Mobile Bay FC Coach Dave Maidstone, and Saraland’s Athletic Director, Coach Jeff Kelly.

Thanks again for a great soccer season.  We wish Mobile Bay FC continued success in the future!
